LIN has been sharing a series of conversations with speakers, co-organizers and partners of: LIN’s Annual Cross-Sector Conference 2019: Partnerships – Impact – Sustainability
This week, we spoke to our Co-Chair of the Conference: Ms Christina Ameln, CSR/Sustainability Advisor and Member of LIN’s Board of Advisors. Christina shared with us how people, organizations, groups and platforms such as the LIN Annual Cross-Sector Conference can be ‘brokers’ in bringing people together to achieve Partnerships, Impact and Sustainability.
As a CSR/Sustainability Advisor, being in the ‘know’ of what is happening in different sectors is important. One is the knowledge of what is going on but the other is being able to connect people, organizations and companies that would not have done so if I had not been the ‘broker’. I truly believe that through these connections many exciting and inspiring projects, innovations and solutions take place. That is why I joined LIN Center for Community Development (LIN)’s first as an advisor then as a member of the Board of Advisors in 2018. The organization plays an integral role in the region by involving all sectors from companies; local not-for-profits; government; philanthropists; and civil society to ensure partnerships, impact and sustainability – with the ultimate aim of building resilient communities in Vietnam.
LIN has various platforms, small and large, to engage different parties in the community. One of the platforms with which I am involved is Co-Chairing the organizing of the re-branded LIN’s Annual Cross-Sector Conference. Now in its third year, the growing interest in this conference is due to the diversity; interest; inspiration; information; and motto ‘all hands on deck’ from LIN colleagues; co-organizers CanCham and CCIFV; sponsors; supporters; speakers; and participants in order to make a positive imprint.
And yes, you may ask, why another conference? The opportunity that LIN creates is a platform that allows participants from all sectors to meet, learn and engage around topics on partnerships, impact and sustainability that continue to be in demand in the region. While Vietnam’s economy is on a positive trajectory, there is still a need to connect; lift up these topics; and bring together distinct sector experience to spur and continue action.
Not only do I hope you will take the time to meet my colleagues and sustainability ‘brokers’ in the Organizing Committee – a team that represents all these traits of community, cross-sector experience, involvement, passion and sustainable engagement. I also hope to personally see you at the conference on 30th of May in Ho Chi Minh City to engage in this knowledge-sharing conference for a positive and sustainable impact.
