Inspired by a visit to Vietnam, Michael moved to Ho Chi Minh City in 2002, and shortly after to Hanoi, where he met street children who were desperate for a chance at education and employment.

In conjunction with Vietnamese colleagues, Michael started Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation, which is working toward the end of human trafficking in Vietnam, and the care of every street child.

For the past 20 years Richard have been working for international organisations, including the World Bank, FAO, UNDP, DFID, SNV and GCF providing strategic direction, knowledge leadership, business development and managing the design and delivery of over 20 projects and funds, across Asia and Africa. He is a global leader in the fields of sustainable forestry, agriculture, water and landscape management, with specific expertise in sustainable finance, climate change adaptation and impact investment.

One of his current roles is as Senior Technical Advisor to the Dutch Fund for Climate and Development helping to originate, assess and manage investment deals with a thematic focus on climate change adaptation and nature based solutions.

Richard has been based and working primarily in the Southeast Asia region for the past 15 years. Richard has a Bachelors degree in Mathematics; a master’s degree in Development Studies and a Masters degree in Ecological Economics from Edinburgh University.

As a writer and photographer, his work aims to simplify and resolve the complexity and principles of sustainable thinking to drive self-reflection and a deeper understanding in his audience. In turn, this will ultimately lead to a positive cultural change and more effective progress.

After moving to Vietnam in 2013, and leaving behind a career in the automotive service industry, Mark continued to explore his passion for travel and photography and completed a double degree in sustainability and aid and development. Christel has a master’s degree from Lund University focusing on Economic and Political Development in Asia with a specialization in Southeast Asia and has studied in both Singapore and China.

Caitlin Wyndham, PhD, is the Resources and Partnerships Leader at Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation. Caitlin moved to Hanoi in 2001, and immediately fell in love with Vietnam and its people. She has worked for a range of different NGOs focussed on addressing inequality and disadvantage.

Caitlin has been involved with Blue Dragon since it started, firstly as a volunteer supporting organisational development, staff training and fundraising. Since 2016 she has been full time, leading up the grants team and supporting the overall development of the organisation.
